To upscale the intake of Coronavirus vaccine in the country, the US government distributed 564,480 doses of Moderna vaccine on Thursday night.

The country received the doses through the ministry of health and thanked the US government for the kind gesture.

“Kenya received another 564,480 doses of Moderna vaccine on Thursday night. The consignment was donated by the US Government”, says the ministry of health.

“The Vaccines will be distributed countrywide to boost the ongoing vaccination campaign against the Coronavirus disease in the country”, added the ministry of health.

So far over 6million have been vaccinated and the government is determined to ensure the target of vaccinating 10 million people by the end of December is attained.

The ministry encourages Kenyans of all walks of life to take the vaccine.

“We continue to appeal to all those above 18 years and have not been vaccinated to show up at any of our approved sites and get vaccinated”, the ministry appeals to Kenyans.

In Mandera County, the ministry of health held a consultative meeting with local community opinion leaders to scale up the uptake of COVID-19 vaccination.

The director of medical services, Dr. Abdi Maalim, urged the local opinion leaders to create local awareness among the populace to upscale the vaccination.

“Today we gathered to sensitize the local opinion leaders on the uptake of Covid-19 vaccines. There is low uptake of vaccines in Mandera compared to other counties and the vaccines are available for free in all our government facilities in Mandera”, said the director.
